ABRITA, Ana Paula; CUNHA, Rivaldo da; HANS FILHO, Günter  e  SOUZA, Albert de. Depression, anxiety, stress and non-adherence to leprosy multidrug treatment. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.1, pp.339-350.  Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240129.

This study aims to identify predictors of adherence to multidrug treatment in patients diagnosed with leprosy treated at the University Hospital Maria Aparecida Pedrossian - EBSERH and Hospital São Julião, in Campo Grande - MS. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study. The sample consisted of 68 participants diagnosed with leprosy and undergoing multidrug treatment. For data collection, the following instruments were used: Structured Interview, Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale - Short Form (DASS-21), Morisky-Green Test (MGT) and secondary data from medical records. There was a predominance of males (67.6%), with a partner (64.7%) and low education (67.6%). Regarding the operational classification of leprosy and the degree of adherence to multidrug treatment, there was a predominance of multibacillary cases (92.6%) and a high rate of non-adherents (47.1%). Based on the comparison and association tests, participants classified as non-adherent to treatment by the MGT had a significantly higher average score in all domains assessed by DASS-21 when compared to participants considered adherent. This data points to the greater severity of symptoms regarding depression, anxiety and stress in the group considered as not adhering to treatment by the MGT, reinforcing the need for interdisciplinary care in this context.
