MEDEIROS, Sofia; PEREIRA, Jennifer  e  FONSECA, António. Young people's perception of older people: stereotypes in intergenerational relationships. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.1, pp.413-425.  Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240135.

Aging is a growing phenomenon, both in dimension and in years of life. This qualitative study has the general objective of understanding the perception that young people have about older people, seeking to assess how stereotypes interfere in intergenerational relationships, especially the concept of ageism. The sample is made up of 9 participants, young people between 15 and 19 years old, and corresponded to the theoretical saturation criterion. The main results showed that, in the view of young people, older people are people who have the ability to carry out their tasks and are also people with experience and wisdom acquired throughout their lives. This positive view seems to be influenced by living with family members. It was also found that, despite the lack of knowledge about the concept of ageism, there is a consensus among young people that the separation of generations is a present reality in our society.
