MARTINS, Vaneila et al. Stress, surgical patient and nursing interventions: integrative literature review. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.2, pp.426-439.  Epub 31-Out-2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240201.

To identify, through scientific evidence, the nursing interventions used to manage stress in surgical patients in operative moments. This is an integrative review of the literature in LILACS, MEDLINE, SciELO, CINAHL and SCOPUS databases, with different methodological designs that described nursing interventions to reduce the stress of adult surgical patients; in the operative moments, published in the last ten years. In total, 17 studies were analyzed, 3 in Portuguese, 1 in Spanish and 13 in English. Nursing interventions were categorized as: Educational intervention and non-pharmacological interventional practices as a strategy of nursing care in the management of stress and anxiety in surgical patients. The surgical treatment profile is of great stressor. It is recommended to conduct prospective longitudinal studies linking stress and surgical patients in order to verify how the cause (of the factors considered stressful) and the effects (the onset of stress) are related, and thus to find the best way to minimize the experience of stressor factors. Thus, stress and ways to mitigate it should be the target of nursing planning as an item of care quality.
