Abstract

ROBERTO, Francelaine; MERCES, Nen Nalú das  and  MAZZA, Verônica. Burden in family caregivers in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: integrative review. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.2, pp.440-450.  Epub Oct 31, 2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240202.

The paper has as objective to verify the burden in family caregivers of patients in post-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and to identify the instruments described in the literature for their evaluation. It is a literature integrative review, contemplating the period from 2010 to 2020. The data collection happened between April and May of 2020, using as information sources: PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, BVS, SciELO, and Web of Science. The final sample was constituted by seven scientific papers. As result, it was identified that the selected studies, published between 2011 and 2016, in English, were all original; six of them were descriptive studies, and a single prospective, observational, analytical of case control study. The applied instruments were: Shirom-Melamed Burnout Questionnaire, Caregiver Reaction Assessment, Caregiver Activities and Rolls Strain, Zarit Burden Interview and Burden Interview. The studies were development in United States, Turkey, and Sweden. The burden rated for each instrument was related to the caregiver's paper, to the execution of the activity of caregiving and to its repercussions, as depression, anxiety and stress. The burden was linked mainly to negative feelings, as depreciation and absence of emotional support. Therefore, the relation between the burden and the instruments is important, in order to the involved professionals provide better service, not only to the patients submitted to the referred transplant, but also to their caregivers.
