CARVALHO, Maura  e  HAYASIDA, Nazaré. Postpartum depression in mothers of premature babies: an integrative literature review. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.2, pp.498-510.  Epub 31-Out-2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240207.

The study aimed to analyze national and international scientific productions on postpartum depression (PPD) in mothers of premature babies and to identify psychological repercussions of this process. It is an integrative literature review, carried out based on the search for scientific publications indexed in the PUBMED, SCIELO, PePSIC, BVS-Psi and LILACS databases. In the searches, the following descriptors were used in English: mothers, depression, neonatal intensive care units, portuguese: mothers, depression and neonatal intensive care unit. In the end, 19 publications met the inclusion criteria, being selected. In view of the findings, it was noticed that mothers who face the experience of prematurity are at risk of developing PPD and other associated variables such as anxiety and stress. This study reflected on the need for full support for mothers with children in the Neonatal Unit (UN) in order to minimize the consequences of this process. Despite progress in this area, the health team faces challenges in the early diagnosis of PPD in this population.

Palavras-chave : Postpartum depression; Mothers; Neonatal intensive therapy units.
