Abstract

GARCIA, Carolina; ASSUMPCAO, Daniela de; NERI, Anita  and  D´ELBOUX, Maria. Satisfaction with life and associated variables in elderly: fibra continuity study. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.2, pp.682-695.  Epub Oct 31, 2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240221.

This present study is a cross-sectional quantitative investigation, using the FIBRA Study database 2016-2017, with the aim of identifying the variables that influence the overall satisfaction with life in the elderly. The sample included the participation of 419 subjects aged between 72 and 80 years old, residing in the cities of Campinas and the Ermelino Matarazzo district of São Paulo. The selected variables were overall satisfaction with life, sociodemographic, self-rated health, self-reported illnesses, social participation, and satisfaction with the support received. The prevalence of satisfaction with life was estimated according to the variables; the associations were verified with a Pearson's Chi-Square test, the odds ratios for VS and the respective 95% confidence intervals were estimated using logistic regression. The results indicated the distal social participation and satisfaction with the social support that it receives as influencing high levels of VS in the elderly.
