The adaptation study of the Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Scale - Short Form (ATSPPH-SF) for the Portuguese population was conducted. This scale is widely used and cited as a measure of attitudes towards professional mental health treatment. Confirmatory factor analyses and reliability analyses of the Portuguese version of the scale ATSPPH-SF showed that both the original single-factor model and the two-dimensional structure had good fit values. The use of the two-factor structure in research, with one factor relating to openness to seeking psychological support for emotional problems and the other factor involving perceptions of the value of professional psychological treatment, can provide a better understanding of attitudinal determinants and sociodemographic correlates. Results indicated that women and individuals who seek professional psychological support have more favourable attitudes. Due to its brevity and suitability to the assessed construct, it is considered that the ATSPPH-SF can be used in research studies with the Portuguese population.
