Cancer is one of the main causes of death worldwide. In the terminal phase of pediatric patients, as imminent death creates a difficult crisis and the mourning the illness and death of a child is a delicated topic. This research aimed to investigate the scientific production on the mourning processes in professionals, patients and their families in palliative care in pediatric oncology. An integrative literature review was conducted, with a survey of articles published in Portuguese and English, between 2013 and 2022, in the databases PubMed, Regional Portal of the Virtual Health Library (“BVS Saúde”) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) matching descriptors and booleans (1) “grief” AND “child” AND “palliative” AND “cancer”; (2) “luto” AND “criança” AND “cuidados paliativos” AND “câncer”; (3) “grief” AND “child” AND “palliative care” e (4) “luto” AND “criança” AND “cuidados paliativos”. After the criteria, 32 articles were analyzed and organized into two categories: “The family in the face of the loss of a child” (f = 22) and “Specificities in pediatric palliative care” (f = 14). It was concluded that palliative care in pediatricians present specificities of professional practice that reflect on the processes of bereavement.
