Abstract

BERWALD, Jonas et al. Anxiety and burnout in futsal athletes during a short-term competition. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.3, pp.963-970.  Epub Dec 31, 2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240314.

This study investigated the pre-competitive anxiety and the indications of burnout of 12 athletes of a futsal team from Floresta-PR during a short competition. As instruments, the Competitive Anxiety in Sports Inventory (CSAI-2) and the Burnout Questionnaire for athletes were used. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk, Repeated Measurement Anova and Pearson correlation tests (p <0.05). The results showed an increase in cognitive anxiety (AC) and physical and emotional exhaustion (EFE) throughout the competition. There was a significant correlation between AC and EFE in games 2 (r = 0.48) and 3 (r = 0.56), and a negative correlation between self-confidence and the reduced sense of sporting accomplishment in game 3 (r = -0.47). It was concluded that the demand for games can be considered an intervening factor in CA and EFE young futsal athletes.
