Abstract

KUHN, Pricila  and  CARLOTTO, Mary Sandra. Predictors of professional and institutional dropout intention in teachers. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.3, pp.982-993.  Epub Dec 31, 2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240316.

Teacher mobility has been a concern on the part of educational managers due to the losses caused to teaching and learning in addition to the social and economic costs. The quality of life at work can have an impact on reducing this psychosocial phenomenon. Thus, this study aimed to identify the predictive power of the sociodemographic, labor and quality of life at work variables in the intention of institutional abandonment and intention of professional abandonment. The instruments used were a socio-demographic and labor data questionnaire, a Quality of Work Life Assessment Scale and a Work Abandon Intention Scale The sample consisted of 189 basic education teachers. Multiple linear regression analysis (Stepwise method) was performed for each intention of dropout. The results indicated three predictor variables of Intention to Leave Institutional and five predictor variables of Intention to Leave Professional, which are discussed in the article. We suggest actions to improve working conditions, compensation, career counseling programs, and monitoring the intention to abandon.

Keywords : Institutional abandonment intention; Professional abandonment intention; Quality.
