Abstract

POCAS, Sara  and  SANTOS, Júlio Gonçalves dos. Influences of Globalization and Cooperation on Education and Teacher Training in Angola. Cadernos de Estudos Africanos [online]. 2020, n.39, pp.57-84.  Epub June 12, 2021. ISSN 1645-3794.

This article aims to discuss the influences of globalization and development cooperation on education and teacher training in Angola, particularly in the provinces of Benguela, Cabinda and Cunene. A qualitative methodology was used and the results stem from document analysis and semi-structured interviews conducted with various national and local actors. Thus, it appears that the parameters defined for teacher training in Angola are strongly influenced by international cooperation projects in their conceptions and practices. The need for monitoring and re-contextualization of teacher training in Angola, as well as valuing the teaching career, are suggested.

Keywords : globalization; Angola; teacher training; development cooperation.
