Abstract

SILVA, Rui da  and  OLIVEIRA, Joana. Impacts and Effects of Development Cooperation Programs in Schools: A focused view on the educational aid programme PASEG. Cadernos de Estudos Africanos [online]. 2020, n.39, pp.85-111.  Epub June 12, 2021. ISSN 1645-3794.

This article examines the impact and effects of the educational aid programme called PASEG from the Portuguese official aid. It explores an in-depth analysis of four schools following a qualitative approach. The data stems from interviews and focus groups with students, teachers and school principals, and field notes and document analysis. The article argues that PASEG can be considered an exogenous effect that dissolved most of the possible endogenous effects, particularly related to the continuous professional development of teachers and teacher’s moral. It also identifies that there is a directly proportional relationship between the number of years that PASEG has been in schools and the degree of dependence of the school on the actions of the programme.
