LADEIRA, Carla Marina Maia. Perceptions on Psychomotor Development of the Mozambican Child in Pre-School Age, in Rural Context, with a Focus on Chibuto. Cadernos de Estudos Africanos [online]. 2020, n.39, pp.113-131.  Epub 12-Jun-2021. ISSN 1645-3794.

Although there was a greater focus on knowledge about children and childhood, from the 50s of the last century, it was possible to realize that there is much more research and publications based on the study of populations in industrialized countries. There is, in several sources, a recognition of the need for greater investment, by the scientific community, in the study of African and Mozambican populations in particular. Children in Mozambique represent 52% of the population (under 18). Of these children, 48% live in absolute poverty; access to quality early learning services (three-five years) is only five percent (UNICEF, 2014) and there are few studies on child development.

Palavras-chave : Mozambican child; psychomotor development; Chibuto; factors that influence the development; disparities between rural and urban; preschool age.
