Abstract

COELHO, Inês; SARRICO, Cláudia  and  ROSA, Maria João. Schools’ evaluation in Portugal: What future?. Rev. Portuguesa e Brasileira de Gestão [online]. 2008, vol.7, n.2, pp.56-67. ISSN 1645-4464.

To question the future of schools’ evaluation in Portugal means, on one hand, to analyze the specificities of programmes already developed and their impact, and on the other hand to support efforts for the rising of new evaluation projects more adequate to the actual context of schools’ autonomy, to promote a true culture of schools’ systematic evaluation and self-evaluation. This paper describes the evolution of the main evaluation experiences that took part in the national school system, introducing an innovative model for schools’ performance measurement and management to inform the debate on school improvement and policy setting.

Keywords : School Evaluation; Performance Measurement and Management.
