Abstract

SERAFIM, Maurício  and  BENDASSOLLI, Pedro. The loss of the individual's ethical capacity in the organizations. Rev. Portuguesa e Brasileira de Gestão [online]. 2009, vol.8, n.3, pp.46-54. ISSN 1645-4464.

To the light of the Brazilian sociologist's work Alberto Guerreiro Ramos, this article intends to expose what the author denominated of behaviorist syndrome , considered an inherent psychological reductionism to the society centered at the market and that, according to the author, they are the psychological bases of the current organizational theories. It possesses as main lines the fluidity of the individuality, the perspectivism, the formalism and the operationalism. I argue that while the individuals are under the influences that maintain acting such syndrome, there will be little opportunity for the reactivation of the capacity of the individual’s ethical reflection. Therefore, if we intend that the ethics in the organization is necessary, it requests transcend the behaviorist syndrome, in order the individual passes from the passivity state for an active and deliberative one.

Keywords : Business Ethics; B ehaviorist Syndrome; Guerreiro Ramos; Organization Studies.
