Abstract

CORREIA, Paulo Gonçalves  and  REIS, António. Structured search versus free text search in the selection of properties in real estate websites. Rev. Portuguesa e Brasileira de Gestão [online]. 2011, vol.10, n.4, pp.2-10. ISSN 1645-4464.

The process of property search in real estate websites tends to be an arduous and time consuming task. The quantity and diversity of properties available, as well as the variety of characteristics that describe them, make the effectiveness and efficiency of the search a critical success factor. This paper analyzes the performance of the structured versus free text search in the property selection process. Experiment results show that the features of both methods can complement each other and provide added search power, if assembled in a single tool.
