Abstract

BRAGA, Juliana. Ecodesign: a case study of strategies applied to national products. Rev. Portuguesa e Brasileira de Gestão [online]. 2014, vol.13, n.2, pp.28-40. ISSN 1645-4464.

This article demonstrates that the initiatives of dissemination, promotion and encouragement of design and development of sustainable products are only starting to be established in Brazil. Furthermore, the difficulties encountered by many professionals and by small and medium businesses in understanding and implementing both the ISO 14000 rules and the Life Cycle Assessment tools have also collaborated to the current stagnation of Brazil, regarding sustainable development. Because of that, examples, tools, and guidelines of ecodesign are presented, aimed at supporting decisions for the development of sustainable products in Brazil. Case studies of objects produced in Brazil, winners of important competitions and national awards, were presented. We conclude that a greater dissemination of national case studies is needed, as a way to guide and encourage the productive sector and design professionals for the sustainable production.

Keywords : Ecodesign; Life Cycle; Sustainable Production.
