Abstract

FEITOSA, Douglas; YOSHIKUNI, Adilson; LUCAS, Edimilson  and  ALBERTIN, Alberto. A study about the use of information technologies in the teaching and learning process. Rev. Portuguesa e Brasileira de Gestão [online]. 2014, vol.13, n.4, pp.30-42. ISSN 1645-4464.

Considering the constant emergence and adoption of technologies by students and faculty, the need to understand this phenomenon in greater depth arises. This study aims to identify the factors in the relationship between the use of Information Technologies and the activities of the teaching and learning at the level of the class room. This study examined the perspective of professors about this phenomenon, through an exploratory and qualitative approach which based its analysis on coding techniques of Grounded Theory. Twenty interviews with professors who work or have worked in Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in Brazil were conducted. In the analysis, categories that guided the development of an initial theoretical model emerged. This model deepens the existing literature on the subject and helps the managers of HEI in understanding the phenomenon at the level of the classroom. Limitations and future work are described in later sections.
