Abstract

BRAS, Gonçalo Rodrigues  and  SOUKIAZIS, Elias. The determining factors of entrepreneurship in Portugal. Rev. Portuguesa e Brasileira de Gestão [online]. 2015, vol.14, n.3, pp.13-25. ISSN 1645-4464.

Whilst multidisciplinary concept and usually connoted with innovation, entrepreneurship is likely to be explained by several factors. In fact, this work aims to test, in an exploratory perspective, the determinants of entrepreneurship (global and sectoral) in the Portuguese economy. To this end, we propose the estimation of some time series models. The main results indicate that the determinants of entrepreneurship in the industry are significantly different from the determinants of entrepreneurship in the services sector in Portugal. Despite the methodological limitations inherent in a work of this nature, mainly due to the incompatibility of some series and on the temporal limitation of some data, the novelty of transverse perception of the entrepreneurial phenomenon in Portugal supplies the challenge.

Keywords : Entrepreneurship; Industry; Services; Time-Series Models.
