Abstract

CPLP (Portuguese Speaking Countries Community) is a community of language, culture and even business nearness. This nearness, which has been built sharing history and political choices, even if each country is autonomous, brings to each economic advantages: reduces the liability of foreignness and the liability of outsidership. This feeling of community, felt by business decision-makers within CPLP, leads to an international market selection that considers, several times, other Portuguese speaking country as first destination in their internationalization process. Nevertheless, physical distance - and logistics - is a fundamental barrier to overcome, as it is shown by the logistics performance index presented by the World Bank (2014). This paradox of distance - where members of this community felt nearness, even if at same time they are physically distant - can be reduced. The priority to logistics allows us to focus on our community - CPLP - really needs: efficient links which promote those different economic areas in which each CPLP member state is inserted.
