Abstract

MAIA, Redento Pedro Carlos. Sustained global economic growth and development. RGPLP [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.1, pp.65-77. ISSN 1645-4464.

Emphasis is given to the study of the theory of economic growth and development, discussing long-term strategies, that is, on the measures to be taken to a balanced economic growth, stressing that the supply or aggregate production plays an important role in the long term path. It is pointed out that economic growth is a continuous growth of per capita income over time, while economic development, as a more qualitative concept, includes changes in the product composition and the allocation of resources among different sectors of the economy, in order to improve the economic and social well-being indicators of the population (poverty, unemployment, inequality, health conditions, food, education and housing).

Keywords : Theory of Economic Growth and Development; Long-Term; Balanced Growth; Supply; Aggregate Production; Per Capita Income; Welfare Indicators; Population.
