Abstract

CARVALHO, Eduardo Gomes  and  SUGANO, Joel Yutaka. Typologies of open innovation in Brazilian new technology-based firms. RGPLP [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.2, pp.65-83. ISSN 1645-4464.

The open innovation literature has a research stream on small and medium enterprises. However, the authors relegate microenterprises and startups. Thus, the study of open innovation in new technology-based firms is an important gap of innovation management literature. Therefore, our work aims to explore the different open innovation models in new technology-based firms. The paper utilizes a survey using a sample of 92 firms from database of the Brazilian Association of startups, cluster analysis and ANOVA. The cluster analysis confirmed the four open innovation models: open innovators; closed innovators; integrated collaborators; and specialized collaborators.

Keywords : Open Innovation; Survey; New Technology-Based Firms; Small and Medium Enterprises.
