Abstract
VALADARES, Jorge. The teaching of physics in Portuguese secondary schools in the twentieth century. Rev. Lusófona de Educação [online]. 2013, n.25, pp.15-34. ISSN 1645-7250.
In this work it is shown how the Physics teaching in the last century, in Portugal, had two phases, the first one of stagnation, based on an official single manual, adopted for all schools, whose deficiencies, some of them mentioned in this study, were transmitted from manuals to manuals, decade after decade. The expositive and passive teaching, of poor quality, led to a markedly literal, from memory, mechanical learning. The teachers exposed these errors and misconceptions that students decorated and repeated. The end of the manual adopted for all schools and the democratization of education in the 70s led to a second phase of the Physics teaching also analyzed in this work.
