CHARREU, Leonardo    BACALHAU, Daniela. Little narratives of art education: The use of illustration and “author toys” in the communication of knowledge and affects in children and elderly people of a small rural community. []. , 26, pp.63-81. ISSN 1645-7250.

From the mapping of traditions and life stories of older people in a small community, one of the authors of this paper developed a set of didactical-artistic materials (illustrations and hybrid toys) that were applied in the classroom sessions of visual art education, with a small group of children of the first cycle of basic education. A “small” narrative that we propose relates to the record/testimony of the impact that the experience had with the people involved in “small” numbers -children and the elderly - considering this historical moment in which it becomes difficult not to have as a reference a scale in which all things are micro, (number of people, number of children, number of schools, number of jobs, number of doctors...) that has unfortunately become very common in rural Portugal. Within a matrix of small things, we consider the achieved results interesting, or at least worthy of academic attention. We think that this research could bring an honest contribution to an increasingly devoid territory of educational experience focused in the learners.
