Abstract

Considering the decentralization of competences in education, between the state and municipalities, within the framework of a research project, representatives of Parents Associations and Carers, from groups of primary schools, were interviewed, with the objective of understanding their perspectives on municipalities educational policies orientation, as well as their evaluation of those policies and of the actions implemented in that scope. The evaluation of the work developed is, in general, positive, although some voices distance themselves from the actions of municipalities. Regarding the educational policies orientations, the promotion of school success and opportunity equality standout, supported by actions essentially aimed at the promotion of apprenticeships of students and families quality of life. Municipalities are seen as a central and fundamental partner in the educational scope, collaborating with schools and with local entities that work in the educational field. Networking emerges as a strategy used and valued, particularly in articulation of activities developed and dynamised in conjunction with all actors with influence in the educational field, especially at the local level.
