Abstract

BARRINHA, André. Turkey and the Middle East illusion. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2009, n.21, pp.167-172. ISSN 1645-9199.

Taking as a starting point the Copenhagen School’s theory of regional complexes, this article debates the immediate causes and consequences of the Turkish policy to the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the changes that occurred on the Turkish foreign policy for the Middle East since the AKP (Justice and Development Party) of Recep Tayyip Erdogan was elected in 2002. Furthermore it will reflect on Turkey’s behavior on what concerns the present Gaza crisis and on the causes and consequences of the potential transformation on the Turkish foreign policy for the Middle East.

Keywords : regional complexes Copenhagen School; Turkey; Middle East; Gaza Strip conflict.
