Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the Brazilian foreign policy during the Lula government, focusing on its continuities and changes related to the former government. The article is organized as follows: Firstly, introduces a debate about continuities and discontinuities in Brazilian foreign policy. Secondly presents a brief historical of the foreign policy of Cardoso administration in order to set the basis for the evaluate Lula’s foreign policy particularities. Then focuses the analysis on Brazilian foreign policy adopted during the Lula period with emphasizing separately the first and the second term. The conclusion outlines characteristics of continuity or change of this policy.
