Abstract

RIBEIRO, José Félix. The world oil and gas ecosystem: a note. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2015, n.46, pp.25-43. ISSN 1645-9199.

In the last 40 years, in an evolutionary way and under the leadership of the United States, an ecosystem has been taking shape that structured, at a global level, the oil offer and the regulation of its price, which broke away from the business-minded need of control by the countries supplied by territories with a vast wealth of energy resources. After describing this ecosystem, the paper introduces three particular examples that demonstrate the central role of the United States in increasing the world-wide oil offer within and outside the opec.

Keywords : Oil; oil companies; technologies; shale gas.
