Abstract

FONSECA, Ana Mónica. The Portuguese Constitution of 1976: the Bona view. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2016, n.49, pp.11-26. ISSN 1645-9199.

The adoption of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic on April 2, 1976 marked the beginning of the end of the democratic transition in Portugal. Consequently, the political normalization that was felt in the brand new Portuguese democracy had its impact at the international level. If the process. of Portuguese democratization was closely followed by different international actors, whether in Europe or the two superpowers (USA and USSR), the implementation of the political model of representative and pluralist democracy would definitely put an end to the international hesitations and misgivings. In this article we will analyze how the Federal Republic of Germany followed the constitutional process in Portugal.

Keywords : Constitutional order; Portugal; West Germany; democratization.
