Abstract

MENDES, Pedro Emanuel. Identity and power in Indonesia's foreign policy: from Sukarno to Suharto. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2016, n.52, pp.67-82. ISSN 1645-9199.

This article develops an analysis of Indonesia's foreign policy during the presidencies of Sukarno and Suharto. It starts with a brief historical background on the main material and ideational factors that characterized the construction of the Indonesian state. Next, it outlines an analytical framework of the ideas and doctrines that influenced the Indonesian foreign policy. Its main objective is to contribute to shed some light on the process of identity construction and adaptation of Indonesia's foreign policy in this period.
