Abstract

PEREZ, Rafael Garcia. Spain’s Maritime Security Strategy: a review from a peninsular perspective. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2018, n.57, pp.119-129. ISSN 1645-9199.  https://doi.org/10.23906/ri2018.57a08.

Spain is in the process of renewal of its strategic documents, to adapt it to the definitions adopted by the European Union. In this context, the National Maritime Security Strategy needs to be restructured, to correct flaws and improve the operationalization of bodies responsible for its maintenance. The Hispanic-Portuguese cooperation represents an opportunity to put into practice these developments and overcome the operational difficulties of its execution.

Keywords : Maritime security; maritime security strategy; Spain; Portugal; European Union.
