Resumen

CAMISAO, Isabel. Biden and the transatlantic partnership come back: opportunities and challenges. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2021, n.69, pp.69-77.  Epub 30-Abr-2021. ISSN 1645-9199.  https://doi.org/10.23906/ri2021.69a03.

After four years drifting apart, the election of Joe Biden represented a window of opportunity to rekindle the US-European Union relation, that both actors appear keen to seize. The EU’s proactive stance and the first decisions and actions of the new us President are positive signs. But the new transatlantic partnership is not free from challenges. The Biden Administration faces a long “repair work”, both at the external and domestic levels. The EU has to avoid the temptation of “lazy Atlanticism”, which might stop it from balancing partnership and autonomy.

Palabras clave : Biden Administration; European Union; transatlantic partnership; foreign policy.
