Abstract

We aimed to detect the photographers' criteria of how to make the portrayal of male and female athletes and analyze their speech regarding the photos registration based on gender hierarchy. Participated ten sports photographers from different medias and both sexes, randomly selected. The instrument was a semi structured interview and as a technique, it was used the discourse analysis. The photographers’ speech presents contradictions, but they acquiesce that is necessary to work for a collective interest.
