Abstract

Obesity is a chronic disease characterized by excessive accumulation of fat in adipose tissue. Currently, you can see that obesity is a disease that is becoming increasingly common in everyday life. Emphasizing the importance of combating obesity for public health, and considering the role of physical education professional in the treatment and prevention of this disease was established the following overall goal for this study: Understanding the perception of physical education professional about their role the dynamics of combating obesity. This was a descriptive, qualitative, which was held in the municipality of Aracati, Ceará. The sample included the participation of 10 professionals of Physical Education who answered a semi-structured interview consists of questions related to the role of the professional physical education in combating obesity. In conducting this research, it was observed that the professionals mentioned its importance on the care of people with obesity is permeated by the presence in health education actions providing guidance as to the severity of obesity, highlighting the diseases that can cause disease and pointing out that it is crucial to combat a sedentary lifestyle. Considering the results, it can be concluded that the professional of Physical Education has an important perception of its role in fighting obesity since their actions allow the realization of care practices that promote the prevention and lower the incidence of this disease.
