Abstract

LOPES, Osmar Porfírio Sampaio et al. Prevalence of injuries and functional evaluation of movement among Jiu Jitsu practitioners. Motri. [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.1, pp.368-375. ISSN 1646-107X.

The main objective is to study possible relationships between the prevalence of injuries and the Functional System of Movement in Jiu Jitsu fighters. A questionnaire was applied in order to detect the incidence of injuries. The research was characterized as quantitative of analytical and transversal character. The sample consisted of 31 males. The mean age of the study participants was 30.9 ± 7.3 years. The knee was the joint most affected by injuries (71%), followed by the spine (29%), the shoulder (29%), the elbow (26%) and the ankle (19%). All subjects in the study had some type of injury. It was concluded that the joints most affected by injuries among the participants were knee, spine and shoulders, corroborating with several studies presented in the bibliographic research.
