Abstract

Lifestyle and psychological well-being are very important factors for teachers' health. Objectives: To characterize the lifestyle and psychological well-being of 3rd and 5th-grade teachers and to analyze the relationship between the two variables. It is a cross-sectional and correlational study using a questionnaire, which included: i) sociodemographic and professional characterization variables; ii) The FANTASTIC questionnaire for lifestyle assessment; and iii) The questionnaire QBEP-R for assessing psychological well-being. The majority of the 174 participants were female (68.40%), married (75.30%), the average age was 49.10 years old, and (64.90%) had a bachelor's degree. The results show that the teachers presented a Very Good lifestyle and there is a positive and statistically significant correlation between general lifestyle and psychological well-being. There is also a statistical and significant relationship between FANTASTIC domains and psychological well-being, except for tobacco and alcohol consumptions and other behaviors. This study revealed a positive and significant relationship between lifestyle and psychological well-being. This study underlines the need for health promotion programs aiming at teachers, to contribute to the development of stimulating and creative educational environments.
