To investigate the prevalence of SB in nurses working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This is a descriptive, exploratory study with a quantitative approach carried out in a public maternity hospital in the city of João Pessoa - Paraíba, Brazil. Ten nurses working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit participated in the study. Data were collected between September and October 2016, through the application of the "Questionnaire for the Evaluation of the Query for Work Syndrome (CESQT)" developed by Gil-Monte (2005). Data analysis shows that the average for the Guilt dimension was 1 (rarely: sometimes per year); for Psychic Wear, the average was 2 (sometimes: sometimes a month); for indolence, the result was 1 (rarely: a few times a year); and concerning size, Illusion by work, the average was 3 (often: a few times a week). The results indicated that the nurses participating in the study did not present high SB levels. However, when the dimensions are analyzed in isolation, it is possible to conclude that some professionals present risks for a future illness.
