DANTAS, Karollyni Bastos Andrade et al. Stress levels presented by people with physical disabilities, practitioners or non practitioners of parasports. []. , 19, 3, pp.233-238.   21--2024. ISSN 1646-107X.  https://doi.org/10.6063/motricidade.30737.

The present study aimed to evaluate the influence of parasports on the stress of people with motor disabilities. This cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted with 39 para-athletes ( x ¯ = 30.9 ± 11.7 years) and 10 non-athletes with motor disabilities ( x ¯ = 31.6 ± 9.3 years). Stress was assessed through the application of the LIPP ISLL Questionnaire. The nonparametric Mann-Whitney test was applied for intergroup comparisons of continuous variables. Pearson's chi-square test was used for discrete and/or nominal variables, with a significance level of p< .05 to reject the null hypothesis. Results: Para-athletes had a better quality of life than non-athletes (Δ%= 12.97%, p= .02), the former reaching an overall index of 14.20, classifying them as high (above 14 points). This result is mainly due to ISSL, which categorizes the studied sample into five categories: no stress; Alert; Resistance, Near Exhaustion, and Exhaustion, which indicates a prevalence of (69%) of the state of No Stress, with a predominance of the parasports group (Δ%= 16.4%).

: parathletes; people with disabilities; emotional stress.
