SERRANO, Pedro et al. Fratura do snowboarder. Rev. Port. Ortop. Traum. [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.4, pp.491-497. ISSN 1646-2122.

Fracture of the lateral process of the talus is rare and may be confused with lateral ankle sprain. Because this injury is frequent among snowboarders it is known as “snowboarder´s fracture”. Operative treatment has revealed better results of an injury when not diagnosed or late treated can produce lasting morbidity. The authors present a case report after a running over. With surgery the patient has recovered total function of the subtalar joint. The present case shows that the mechanism responsible for this fracture isn´t exclusive of snowboard. An high level of suspicion is necessary for a precocious diagnosis and proper treatment it´s central for good outcomes.
