Abstract

ALMEIDA, Ricardo et al. Osteocondroma do astrágalo. Rev. Port. Ortop. Traum. [online]. 2013, vol.21, n.1, pp.45-49. ISSN 1646-2122.

Objective: osteochondroma is the most common benign neoplasm of the bone. It represents about 42 to 50% of all tumors of the bone. However, its location in the talus is extremely rare, with very few cases reported in the international literature. So far we haven’t found any case of osteochondroma of the talus described in Portugal. Description: We present a case of a female patient, 41 years old, referenced to our Orthopaedic consult for pain on the dorsum of the right foot. Comments: osteochondroma is the most common benign neoplasm f the bone, being frequent its location on the humerus, tibia and distal radius. The most common site is the metaphyseal region of long bones. It's quite rare in the bones of the foot and even rarer in the talus. The solitary osteochondromas are usually asymptomatic, but those located in the talus can be associated with symptoms such as pain, swelling and limitation of motion of the ankle or painless mass.

Keywords : Osteochondroma; talus; neoplasm.
