FALCAO, Pedro et al. Artroplastia unicompartimental do joelho Oxford Knee phase 3: Resultados a médio prazo. Rev. Port. Ortop. Traum. [online]. 2014, vol.22, n.3, pp.295-302. ISSN 1646-2122.

Purpose Improvement in medium- and long-term results increased interest in unicompartmental knee arthroplasty. We decided to evaluate patients undergoing Oxford Phase 3 unicompartmental knee arthroplasty with performed in our department. Methods A retrospective study of 29 consecutive Oxford Phase 3 unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, with a median follow-up of 47 months (10-83 months) was performed. We assessed clinical, functional and radiological data. Results Mean age was 64 years (49-78 years). There were no reports of perioperative complications. There were two loosenings of the tibial component. 23 patients were satisfied or very satisfied with the surgery and the mean Oxford knee score doubled from preoperative 17.4 (5-30) to postoperative 36.6 (11-48). Conclusions Rapid recovery, lower morbidity and improved outcomes provided by mini-invasive surgery seems to fully justify Oxford Phase 3 unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, despite the surgical learning curve.
