Resumen

ABREU, Ana; ALEGRETE, Nuno  y  VIEIRA, Isabel. Avaliação de deformidades da coluna vertebral em adolescentes com paralisia cerebral. Rev. Port. Ortop. Traum. [online]. 2014, vol.22, n.4, pp.370-378. ISSN 1646-2122.

Objective: Describe the prevalence of scoliosis in a population of adolescents with CP and analyze the relation between scoliosis, age, sex, Cobb angle, motor function (GMFCS) and CP subtype. Material and Methods: In this retrospective epidemiological study, were included 150 adolescents with CP, aged between 13 and 18 years, enrolled at the Associação do Porto de PC and followed in medical consultation in 3 hospitals. Through clinical and radiological evaluation, age, sex, type of cerebral palsy, GMFCS classification, the presence of asymmetries of rachis and respective Cobb angle were recorded. Scoliosis was defined as Cobb angle > 10 °. Results: From the clinical evaluation of the rachis, 73 (48.7%) subjects had asymmetries. A total of 22.7% of the subjects had scoliosis. It was found that 23 (67.4%) subjects with scoliosis were in GMFCS V. Twenty-seven (79.4%) patients with scoliosis had quadriplegia, representing the anatomic type with the highest median Cobb (p = 0.006). Conclusions: The degree of motor dysfunction is associated with scoliosis, and the higher the GMFCS, the higher the incidence of scoliosis. The quadriplegic type of CP is presented as the group most at risk for scoliosis. No association was found between the presence of scoliosis and CP motor type. It will be important to implement programs for early detection of scoliosis, based on GMFCS and CP anatomic type.
