RODRIGUES, Eurico Bandeira; SILVA, António Pedro; COELHO, Eduarda  y  JOAO, Paulo Vicente. Tradução e propriedades psicométricas da versão portuguesa do non arthritic hip score (NAHS). Rev. Port. Ortop. Traum. [online]. 2017, vol.25, n.3, pp.160-172. ISSN 1646-2122.

Introduction The Nonarthritic Hip Score (NAHS) is a clinical assessment questionnaire developed in English to evaluate hip function in young and physically active patients with non-arthritic dysfunction. It is utilized to evaluate pain and functional limitation before and after treatments. The aim of this study was to translate the NAHS questionnaire and validate it in Portuguese. Methodology A cohort study was conducted. The sample consisted of 205 patients (157 men, 48 women), with an average age of 40.02 (± 10.54). Data collection took place from 2012 to 2015 at the Hospital of Braga (Orthopaedics Surgery Dept.). The process involved 5 steps: translation, back translation, revision, pre-testing and final translation. Cronbach's alpha (a) was used to calculate the internal consistency and as to factorial validity, the Factorial Confirmatory Analysis (FCA) was employed, using the maximum likelihood estimation method. Results Discussion The results of this study suggest that the Portuguese translation of the NAHS questionnaire shows high internal consistency and factorial validity as an instrument for one-dimensional or multidimensional analysis. It proofs to be a useful tool for both research and clinical practice. Conclusions The Portuguese translation of the NAHS questionnaire can be used to evaluate pain and functional limitation of the hip in young active patients without degenerative disease.
