Abstract

EZQUERRA, Pablo. "You must always be looking": multiple meanings of the concepts of risk and security in contexts of deprivation of liberty. Laboreal [online]. 2020, vol.16, n.1, pp.1-17. ISSN 1646-5237.  https://doi.org/10.4000/laboreal.15798.

This paper is intended as a contribution to risk and security analysis in organizations dedicated to the execution of measures for the population in conflict with the criminal law. In other words, this paper attempts to advance within a theoretical framework that allows for an analysis of the particularities of risk management in environments of deprivation of liberty, such as prisons. For this purpose, information is taken from the case of the National Institute for Adolescent Social Inclusion (INISA), in Uruguay. This is the only institution in the country dedicated to the management of measures on adolescents who were convicted of a crime. The central objective will be to analyze what different meanings of security coexist in everyday work and how these different perspectives converge in real work.

Keywords : Security; Deprivation of liberty; Risk management; Sociology of organizations.
