Abstract

ZAGO, Gabriela da Silva; RECUERO, Raquel da Cunha  and  BASTOS, Marco Toledo. Who Retweets Whom: The role of activists, celebrities and press during #protestosbr on Twitter. OBS* [online]. 2015, vol.9, n.3, pp.67-83. ISSN 1646-5954.

In this paper, we aim to identify elements of the appropriation of three specific groups that contributed to the information diffusion on Twitter during the protests that took place in Brazil on June 2013: activists, celebrities and the press. In order to identify similarities and differences among the groups, we used a combination of referential content analysis with social network analysis. Our findings point to complementary roles among the groups in the information diffusion about the protests.

Keywords : information diffusion; protests; social network sites; Twitter.
