Abstract

PAUL, Dairan Mathias  and  CHRISTOFOLETTI, Rogerio. Reflections on ethics and selfregulation on journalism exercise by amateurs. OBS* [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.3, pp.20-33. ISSN 1646-5954.  https://doi.org/10.15847/obsOBS13320191430.

The article presentes perceptions by non-journalists from two Brazilian collectives regarding deontological values of journalism. From the interviews with members from Collective Independent Media group (Mídia Independente Coletiva) and from Carranca, a discussion on the possibilities of selfregulation in the routines of amateurs who practise acts of journalism took place, that is, people who investigate and publish information on their own account, without editorial filters by any journalistic media. The conclusion drawn, among other aspects, is that the research subjects acknowledge the values of journalism deontology, but still display resistance to selfregulation as it is deemed by them as a pathway for censorship to their practices.

Keywords : non-journalists; journalism ethics; selfregulation; journalism deontology; pro-am.
