Abstract

LOPES, José Almeida et al. Correction of an innominate artery aneurysm, 10 years after a blunt chest trauma. Angiol Cir Vasc [online]. 2012, vol.8, n.1, pp.21-25. ISSN 1646-706X.

Innominate artery aneurysms are extremely rare. The authors present a case report of a 22-year-old patient, in whom was accidently discovered an innominate artery aneurysm of 52 mm, 10 years after a blunt thoraco-abdominal trauma caused by a high energy running over by a motorcycle. For the exclusion of the aneurysm, the patient was successfully submitted to the construction of an ascending aorta-carotid-subclavian bypass with bifurcated Dacron® graft (14x7mm), by means of a median sternotomy, right cervical and supra-clavicular approaches. Review of the literature, clinical features, surgical treatment and chest trauma mechanisms over the innominate artery are described and discussed.

Keywords : Innominate artery aneurysm; Blunt chest trauma.
