Abstract

MESQUITA, Amilcar. Adventitial cystic disease of the politeal artery: diagnosis and treatment - a case report. Angiol Cir Vasc [online]. 2013, vol.9, n.1, pp.24-27. ISSN 1646-706X.

Cystic Adventitial disease (CAD) is a rare vascular disease. The authors report a case of a female, 47 years old, referenced by gemelar intermittent claudication with 3 months of evolution, compatible with adventitious cyst of left popliteal artery. Underwent excision with preservation of the artery. The early diagnosis and treatment is essential to prevent progression to critical ischemia and popliteal thrombosis. However, the diagnosis of this entity is difficult. The fluctuating character of the severity of symptoms, the sudden appearance after vigorous exercise and delayed recovery after rest are the main symptoms. The treatment of choice is cyst excision with preservation of the artery.

Keywords : Cystic adventitial disease; intermittent claudication.
