Abstract

BARBOSA, Gilka Rocha; MOURA, Hermano Perrelli de  and  GUSMAO, Cristine Martins Gomes de. A Framework for Risk Management in Academic Projects. RISTI [online]. 2023, n.51, pp.51-66.  Epub Sep 30, 2023. ISSN 1646-9895.  https://doi.org/10.17013/risti.51.51-66.

Managing risks is vital to minimize the possibility of failure in projects and organizational processes, inducing institutions to invest in strategies for their adoption, which, although predominant in many sectors, seem incipient in higher education. Academic projects are essential to expand knowledge, evolve teaching and contribute to the progress of society. However, they are challenging undertakings in any context and are prone to failures that can impede their progress, waste resources, and compromise their quality; one reason for these incidents may be due to not managing the risks in the project domain. Considering this scenario and its challenge, this work presents a risk management framework for academic projects in Higher Education Institutions, encouraging managers to adopt and integrate them with corporate processes. The main methodological components for its implementation were Design Science Research, systematic literature mapping, survey, expert opinion, and focus group.
