Abstract

CONTEXT: Currently the practice of teaching psychiatric nursing and mental health and their own assistance in the area is going through major changes. AIM: The aim is to understand the care and inclusion technologies that teachers use to teach care in freedom, in the perspective of psychiatric reform in Brazil. METHODOLOGY: The setting for this study consisted of a traditional nursing school; the participants were seven Psychiatric Nursing and Mental Health teachers, who worked in the perspective of psychosocial care. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study that used a semi-structured interview for each subject. RESULTS: The results include care technologies, content and strategies that teachers use to teach the care into freedom. CONCLUSION: Forms of care that value the potential of the territory and the lives of people, the user embracement, the ambience, the link formation, the therapeutic listening, the attention to family, which have been the object of study and of the nurse’s practice.
